The get funding from government sources and follow the same rules as public schools, however; they enjoy a better curriculum than public schools. They are not as regulated as public schools but their programs must meet the standards that public schools meet.
3. Private Online High Schools
This kind of online school generally is the most costly. Private schools must rely on their tuitions and fees in order to operate. Private online high schools must still meet the standards laid down by city, county, state, and federal government entities to operate but they have more liberty to devise their own syllabi. The programs for these schools often have several advantages when compared to public online high schools, for example they have:
- Tougher curricula
- Smaller class size
- More extramural activities
Students who are interested in private online high schools must pay strict attention to the school’s accreditation prior to enrollment.
4. University Allied Online High Schools
This is an ever-growing segment of the online high school phenomenon. They are commonly known as university-affiliated online high schools and some prominent universities offer these types of programs. These schools are very selective and prospective students must meet stringent requirements laid down by the universities that run these programs. If you are on a budget, this may not be the choice for you.
Irrespective of the type online high school students choose, a high school diploma is an important part of their educational, occupational, and career prospects. Their future will often be decided by the choice they make in this area, so, it is not a choice that should be made lightly.
