Some Of The Better Programs Pay For Online Degrees

The best programs pay for college degrees, graduate degrees, online degrees, courses that pertain to preformed jobs. Some will give you the money up front but most will reimburse you after completion. Most will cover your books and other related expenses.

Check with Your HR Dept for Distance Learning Coverage

These programs are presented to employees as a benefit to help retain talent and have better equipped and more qualified workforce. As stated earlier what is available at one company is different from what another offers. Check with the Human Resource Department at your company to see what you can get. Most employees do not know about their companies programs and most do not use them. Such programs usually get a shot in the arm when someone is promoted or gets a raise after receiving a new degree. Some program have been cut back due to the current business climate but if the payout is cut back from 100% to a 50% reimbursement this is still is a great benefit.

Academic Performance May Count

Some companies now attach the payout to performance at school. For example;

  • if get an “A” they will payout 100%
  • if you get a “B” they will pay 90%,
  • “C” 80%
  • etc.

Once again even if you get a “D” ever little bit of cash you can get helps out when it comes to tuition and college expenses. Check in your employee handbook or with your Human Resources Department to see if online colleges are covered by your company’s employer tuition assistance program.

Understand Your Companies Policies

Also when you are going to use your tuition assistance benefits make sure you understand what the company will cover and what it will not in its program. Sometimes it will only pay for your basic online courses and only in majors that can be used at your company. For example if you work for a computer company it will not cover an history major. Be aware that your company may cap what can be spent in one year for example at the Fedex company a part time employee can only get around $1000 per year.

Be Aware Of Some Payback Requirements

The plan may require you to stay at the company for a length of time after you finish your degree or you must payback your tuition assistance. Again make sure you get all the details before you opt in to a program.
