College admission is an important event in the life of a student. Every student has to complete the college application form that includes a number of questions. Some colleges and universities also conduct face-to-face interview with the students to make a final decision about admission. The colleges also focus on knowing the students’ interests and goals and how they match up with the opportunities available at the colleges. Below are some of the most important College Application Tips every new entrant should know.

  1. Describe your high school experience. When answering this question the students must remember that they sharing their educational experience and their transition from adolescence to adulthood. Their moments of happiness and sorrow must also be shared.
  2. Why are you interested in this college? This is a delicate question where you need to be specific and precise. Always try to highlight your intellectual interests and not your materialistic desires. Also, let them know the specific features for which you consider their college better than other colleges.
  3. Describe one of your favorite teachers. Always focus on the morals you received from the teacher as well as the important lessons they taught.
  4. What course do you think you will enjoy the most? This question is basically meant for describing your educational interests. Prepare for answering a few questions about the course you will be discussing.
  5. Describe your greatest strength and weakness. Do not think that you need to speak only about books and knowledge. You can also share your sports or games and other activities as your strengths.
  6. Name a book you read during high school that had a great impact on you. You need to name one and describe the ideals that appealed to you.
  7. Why should the college admit you? You need to describe your strengths in a positive manner.
  8. What is the goal of your career? Focus on educational and intellectual goals, not materialistic ones.
  9. What are your hobbies? Answer precisely. It is not required to be linked with your intended major.
  10. What will help you to achieve your career goal? Talk about the merits of the course and its relation to different fields of work.
  11. Share a life experience that you enjoyed most. Answer precisely but briefly about an exciting event in your life.
  12. What courses did you find most difficult? Write about your greatest difficulties and how you overcame them.
  13. What will you contribute to the college campus community? Answer specifically depicting your hard working abilities.
  14. Who influenced you most in your life? Describe the person, their relationship with you and the way the person influenced you and how.
  15. Where do you find yourself after 10 years from now? Never give any details predicting your near future, talk about where you want to be after completing your studies and where in your career you want to be at that point.
