Special Education: This program prepares teachers to cater to the needs of students with special needs. Some of the subjects covered in this program will prepare the teacher with a firm education foundation on a wide range of disabilities and how to effectively work with them and design course work to suit their needs.
Elementary Education: This specialization prepares individuals to enter a field of education that allows them to work with young children. Teachers in this field will focus their efforts on students from kindergarten to sixth grade. This program spans a variety of subjects which the instructor will have to teach to ensure that students learn and develop the skills needed to go on to secondary education. Apart from the traditional subjects such as math, language skills, sciences, reading and social studies, teachers must pursue courses that help them manage their classroom environment. Some of these courses include basics of teaching, classroom management and curriculum development. Some schools also require instructors teaching a foreign language and some physical education.

Secondary Education: Pursuing a specialization in secondary education prepares teachers to work with students in middle and high school. Teachers focus on specialized subjects which to teach different level of students in the institution. This system is beneficial to students who have an affinity for a particular subject area and can focus their efforts on expanding their knowledge in that subject area. The secondary Education Specialization program teaches participants how to create lesson plans, manage students in the classroom and how to implement various teaching practices. Along with their specialization subject, students are required to complete the other general requirements of the degree program to attain certification.
Early Childhood: This degree deals with preparing teachers to work in an environment where they will be involved in the development of young children and how to design programs that will help them to learn in a healthy environment which is supportive. Teachers will work with students up to the age of 8. In preparation for this environment, they must take courses in children development, children’s learning and behavior along with courses such as curriculum development and classroom management.
Higher Education: This will see teachers working in a college or university setting. This degree is geared to prepare students to work as administrators in an educational environment to be able to manage staff and efficiently maintain a budget. As a result, they will do courses in leadership and management to be able to work with their staff members and students. They will develop their organizational skills and the ability to work with emerging technology.
