Go Green with Online Education

June 17th, 2009

‘Go Green with Online Education’. When I first read the statement I was wondering what Online Education can do with nature? I am sure even you would have thought the same way. It was interesting to note the effects of online education on the environment. Now let us discuss the various benefits of adopting online education as a form of learning

Buildings – The first thing that you will notice about colleges and schools are their buildings. Construction of buildings requires consumption of natural resources in abundance. May it be electricity or wood work, many trees are brought down and natural resources exploited to cater to the construction needs. To ward of the negative effects, now a days many buildings are constructed using recycled materials and usage of sunlight for consumption of power.

You see it is all about putting resources for better use. The money that you spend on buildings can better be used for improving the classrooms facilities and living accommodations of students.

Go Green Online Education

Where Online Education is advocated, the money can as well be spent for improving the class atmosphere at their respective homes by providing them update to date technological equipments.

Commuting – Commuting to regular is an essential aspect of education. To study you need to reach the place of study. This certainly contributes for heavy traffic on road. More the vehicles more the pollution. The environment is heavily affected because of heavy pollution.

Online Education requires no travel to the place of study as it is either your office or home. It helps in a number of aspects. No travel, no commuting, no traffic and no energy consumption. The beauty is that education still goes on leaving behind the negative effects on the environment.

Parking – Consequent to commuting is the issue of parking. Is it not necessary to park the vehicles you have travelled across? If you happen to pass by any university or regular college, just peep in through the parking slot, you will find ocean of vehicles. Imagine the amount of land required to provide for such huge parking space. Such vast spread of land is available only after cleaning up a fertile land or a forest area cutting down all the trees. Is not deforestation a crime?

Where you are not required to commute, you need no parking slot, which means there is no need for cutting down trees and hence save nature which helps in better climatic conditions. Why don’t we think of some constructive steps?

Digital Books – More the usage of papers, more the cutting down of trees. Through online education students learn to use what is called digital books. Digital books need no stock of paper. Hence online education also helps us preserve nature.

We talk about so many reformations for conserving nature, why don’t we do something which is easily possible.

The admission procedure starts with getting the application form. There are some IT schools that provide their application forms free of cost but the majority of them charge application fees in the range of around $100 to $200. To speed up the admission process, it is advisable that you go for an online application form. Fill out the application form carefully because any mistake can have a negative impact on your candidature.

Submitting Documents

The copies of documents that you need to submit with IT school application include:

  • Receipt for the application fee
  • Academic documents (transcripts)
  • Passport or Driver’s license

With the common college application, you can save plenty of valuable time and the chances of committing any mistakes decreases. The only drawback of the common college application is that it can be quite costly.

College Application Mistakes

Some of the common college application mistakes that you can commit at the time of filling out the form are:

  • Filling out your name incorrectly. Make sure that you fill your name in exactly the same way as it is in your academic records.
  • When filling your address details, it is of paramount importance that you use your current one. There are number of students that do not give much significance to the address field in an IT school application thinking that it is not going to be used by the school authority. This is a wrong because school authorities send important documents to your current address.
  • Any kinds of spelling mistakes in your college application can have a negative impact on your candidature. You must read your application form at least twice before submission.
  • Your IT school application is going to be rejected if you do not satisfy the eligibility criteria. Taking this into account, make sure you only apply in an IT school when you satisfy the eligibility criteria fully.
